Dear Potential 2018 Sponsor:

The 2018 Big Bend Ranch Rodeo is just around the corner and we anticipate this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever.  Ranch rodeo events are growing in number every year from coast to coast, from Canada to Australia.  The largest, however, is in the number of spectators.  These audiences are made up of people from all walks of life: cowboys and their families, landowners, bank presidents, lawyers, accountants, doctors, secretaries, etc; all people who love the spirit of the American West.  August 10th and 11th we celebrate one faction of the industry that feeds our soul---ranching.  The Big Bend Ranch Rodeo would like to celebrate our cowboy heritage and we invite you to celebrate with us.

To those of you who generously supported us last year, we say THANK YOU.  Because of you, Sul Ross State University is able to offer scholarships to young men and women who are pursuing an agriculturally based future.  Because of you, the Big Bend Ranch Rodeo will be bigger this year drawing in more people to see your ad in this year’s program.  We ask you to join us again and ride along as the Big Bend Ranch Rodeo grows.  To those of you who were unable to participate in 2017 we extend a warm invitation to you in 2018.

The purpose of the Working Ranch Cowboy Association (WRCA) is to preserve the lifestyle of working ranch cowboys and to provide those cowboys and their families with financial assistance in time of hardship.  The purpose of a WRCA sanctioned ranch rodeo is to provide those cowboys an opportunity to educate the public about the everyday work of a working ranch.  The goal of the BBRR is to support the WRCA, to promote the far West Texas region by sending a representative to the championships, and to provide Sul Ross State University with scholarship monies for agriculture and rodeo students.

The Big Bend Ranch Rodeo (BBRR) committee has already been hard at work making preparations for the August 11th-12th event.  This year’s rodeo will have two night performances where the competing teams earn points for each event in which they place.  The top point earning teams land an entry spot at the WRCA’s World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas this fall.

In the 2018 BBRR we will continue our 2 full “go” format---each team will participate in each event on Friday night and each event on Saturday night…the team with the most points at the end of the rodeo will be the champion.

In addition to the two evening performances, there will be the Friday morning Ranch Cutting Competition and the Saturday morning Ranch Horse Association of America (RHAA) competition and the Youth Working Cow Horse competition.  The events showcase a horse’s athleticism and ability to work a cow as well as the tender relationship between him and the rider.

Supporting the 2018 Big Bend Ranch Rodeo is a chance for you and/or your business to be identified both with the ranching heritage and as Sul Ross State University supporters.  We invite you all to spend this weekend being entertained by the best cowboys in the area and, at the same time, supporting some very worthwhile causes at the 2018 Big Bend Ranch Rodeo in Alpine, TX., August 10th-11th.
